In this approach, Paulette uses dramatization, role-playing, storytelling, and other techniques to help her clients gain insight into their behaviours and thoughts. This innovative therapeutic technique has helped countless people overcome obstacles and gain a new perspective.

Paulette founded Addiction Counselling and Resource Associates (ACARA) in response to the large and unmet demand for her services throughout Vancouver, the lower mainland, and the rest of the province. ACARA’s purpose is to help heal individuals struggling with compulsive sexual behaviour. The organization also provides supervision for physicians, psychotherapists, and other sex addiction professionals and supports clients dealing with grief, stress, trauma, and loss.
Paulette is a highly trained psychotherapist with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (University of Saskatchewan) and a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology (Antioch University in Seattle). She is also a member of many professional organizations regionally and internationally, including the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia, the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, the Canadian Nurses Association, and the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH). Additionally, Paulette has presented at many conferences and events, including the World Conference of Family Physicians.
In 2005, Paulette was honoured with the Award of Excellence in Nursing Practice, and in 2006, she received the Friend of Guatemala Award from OPSA in Guatemala City for her work supporting individuals with trauma and addictions.
